Point of Purchase Displays
I clarify, simplify and amplify your message for better bottom line results.
On target. On time. On budget.
Pure synergy. When a headline melds with an image they are transformed into a concept. A singular idea greater than the sum of the parts. That’s the kind of ads I make. Arresting. Impactful. Effective. (Of course, I can make the less powerful kind too if you like.) Newspaper or magazine, branded image campaigns or direct response. I create traditional print advertising for traditional print media, along with some nontraditional — some would say unconventional breakthrough printed collateral too.
TV Broadcast and Video
If a picture is worth a thousand words, you can imagine what TV and video with HD audio is worth. Moving pictures move people. It’s that simple and more important than ever. Whether it’s television production, sales and training videos, or digital content — From concept to cut, I handle almost every aspect. But I’m obviously not a complete studio myself. Instead, with my connections and expertise, I’m able to hand select the production team that is the absolute best suited for the job. Together, we’re efficient and effective.
Out of Home / Outdoor
The trick to fishing: fish where the fish are. Get attention and results by engaging customers on the move — be it billboard, signage, bus side, bus stop, taxi top, poster or kiosk. Whatever the medium, good outdoor advertising doesn’t just circulate information. It penetrates the public mind with desires and belief as an effective emissary of your brand.
Niche Market Audiences
Brochure and Collateral
A brochure still continues selling long after the salesman has gone. Long after the online browser is shut down. It’s your brand made tangible. An intimate resource to ogle and ponder. By combining captivating visuals, superb design, compelling copy and great photography, the brochures I design tend to leave a mark. Whether you’re looking for a simple tri-fold brochure, or a comprehensive integrated collateral system I carefully engineer every one to engage and persuade. There are several flavors of brochures that require their own special tactics and insights. But in each case, if done well, they sell, inform and delight. They include Annual Reports, Menu Design, Catalogues and Sell Sheets.
Sales Tools and Internal Communications
Many of my clients are in the business of selling, so it’s no accident that I’m sales force savvy. When you need to deliver product information in a quick and compelling way or to educate and motivate your guys, I can help. Let me be part of your team too.
You re-tuck your shirt and straighten your tie. After all, this is the big presentation. You want to look your best. To be considered the ultimate authority. Now is not the best time to wonder if your PowerPoint is as polished as your shoes. Before it’s too late, you might want a professional perspective. I can turn your dry data into an engaging impactful experience. Let’s put a little more power into that PowerPoint. I also work in Keynote.
Even in this digital age mail can be a powerful, yet cost effective, medium. It’s targeted, personal, tangible and measurable. From letters to postcards to brochures, a wide variety of formats are possible. One of the more hard-hitting vehicles I like working with are dimensional mailers with a physical component that prospects are sure to notice and reluctant to throw away, making it a constant reminder of your message.
Customers check their inbox frequently. Are you there waiting to take them to your site, Facebook page or event registration? While blogs and social media are winning larger and larger portions of digital budgets, email marketing remains one of the most important and cost-effective marketing solutions ever. An expertly crafted marketing email can initiate the sales conversation with valuable lead generation and help you stay connected to your most profitable clients. I use the same practices used in print ads to get noticed and get results.
Don’t underestimate the effectiveness of targeted banner ads to build awareness for your campaign and traffic to your site. With the ability to interrupt and remind, static or animated, they deserve attention. And attention they will get. Their awkward shape and size limitations often call for special consideration when it comes to creative execution. Difficult, but not impossible. It’s the little things that mean a lot.
Creativity without strategy
is called art.
Creativity with strategy
is called design.
As a graphic designer, my role is to craft visual communications that help meet your most ambitious of business objectives.
Identity and Logo Design
You can’t put a price on a first impression. Many times the logo is the first, last and best time to project a brand’s attributes to a potential customer. It allows for the immediate recognition, expresses character, a feeling of familiarity and credibility, and becomes your stamp of quality guarantee. It is nothing less than the face of all the efforts behind it. If designed well it can quickly communicate the essence of the brand. What it is, what it was, and what it can be. As will all design: form follows function. Although aesthetics are important, make no mistake that every single minuscule aspect of your logo’s appearance is based on strategic objectives. Whether a brand identity or a corporate identity—trade or consumer, your logo captures and encapsulates the entire brand in one powerful hardworking mark that proves that big things, do indeed, come in small packages.
Guidelines and Graphic Standards
Brand strength depends heavily on consistency. One of the strongest brand management tools are graphic guidelines. These are essential for brand coherence and should be as clear and concise as the brand itself. In addition to consistency, graphic standards help protect against uses that would impair readability and impression. They can also help unite the internal and external marketing team by explaining the benefits of maintaining, and growing, a strong brand. The trickiest part is creating a system that is controlled yet flexible enough to adapt to new applications. If the guidelines are too stringent they will may not be adhered to or they may adapt poorly to unforeseen circumstances even with full compliance. Experience is essential. When it comes to establishing visual protocol, I’ve literally written the book. Quite a few actually.
Responsive Website Design
Already have a website? Welcome to 1992. Bring it up to today’s standards. Your site is the hardest working marketing tool you own. That’s why I put so much thought into the user-centered information architecture, site structure, navigation and layout. Today’s sites must be adaptive to multiple devices to meet ever higher customer expectations. To them your site’s usability can make or break you. You have to be current to be relevant. Once the frontend design is finalized, I’ll work closely with a backend developer who is a specialist at creating the magic code which brings it all to life.
Digital branding is far more than just websites. It’s central to a comprehensive marketing strategy. I work closely with digital developers to seamlessly integrate the online marketing strategy with the offline branding efforts. They incorporate social media, SEO, interactive engagement, mobile and content strategies to create effortless, intuitive functionality where a robust brand experience is essential.
As attention spans lessen while information consumption grows, data visualization (data viz) has never been more important. I’ve used information design to build brands, educate audiences, and boost SEO through link-building. A well designed infographic can help you simplify complex subject matter or turn an otherwise boring subject into an engaging experience. Adding magnetic content to your website can be one of THE single most effective strategies in your entire digital campaign. Not exclusively for digital platforms, information graphics include things like maps, charts, graphs and diagrams.
Whoever said “It’s what’s inside that counts” clearly doesn’t understand the role of packaging. Like it or not, people do judge a book by it’s cover. To them, the package is the product. Without good design a consumer won’t discover all that went into it. Literally. More frequently than advertising, package design provides customers a first impression to your brand and reminds them of it long after purchase. It can be the single most powerful influencer to retail sales. I handle everything from concept to production, including regulatory compliance. In addition to copy and graphical development, I also help with ideation, new product development and line extensions. I’ve even been known to dabble a little in structural design.
Point of Purchase Displays
As retailers are pressed to grow same-store sales, more pressure is placed on brands and categories to perform. One of the most effective ways is through dynamic merchandising design. Being shopper-driven and brand-focused allows me to apply strategic thinking and game changing design solutions to influence their shopping behavior. My in-store sales promotion experience includes point of purchase displays (POP), product displays and planogram integration. Other projects responsible for point of sale spikes have included floor graphics, counter mats, shelf signage, aisle hangers, posters and banners.
Experiential Design and Signage
Bring your key ideas tangibly to life through exhibition and trade show design, environmental communications, signage systems and wayfinding. From store to stadium to street. Even events and unique media placement.
Only one brand
can be the cheapest.
All others must
compete by adding value.
I help organizations communicate their value by creating brands that are authentic, distinctive and relevant.
A strong visual identity sets the tone for your brand. It is the cornerstone of recognition and recall. I specialize in understanding the impact and implications graphic design has on your business. My degree is in specialized technology: visual communications.
Good names don’t happen by chance. Nor are they typically the winner of an employee naming contest. It takes the perfect balance of creativity, purpose and strategic thinking to create strong corporate, product or service names. It’s also true for entire nomenclature systems. Other aspects of verbal branding include translating your attributes to a singular engaging brand voice and creating strategically aligned copy and taglines.
Successful brands are built on a foundation of meaningful strategy. From what they stand for to how your portfolio is organized, I can assist in creating architecture to ensure that they are communicating as intended. As brand-blazer, I can guide the right message through to the right audience.
Research & Analysis
I can guide you through the research options that will provide the insight you need to make strategic, data-driven decisions.
If required, I’d be happy to put you in touch with a full-service research firm or work with your current partner.
